About the Role:

The Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) at The Cottage at Woodland Hills plays a vital role in providing compassionate and attentive care to our senior residents, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. This position involves assisting residents with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, mobility, and feeding, while closely monitoring their health status and reporting any changes to nursing staff. The CNA serves as a key point of contact between residents and the healthcare team, fostering a supportive and respectful environment that promotes dignity and independence. Through effective communication and empathy, the CNA helps to enhance the quality of life for each resident, addressing both physical and emotional needs. Ultimately, the role contributes significantly to the overall care plan and the smooth operation of the Senior Suites community by maintaining high standards of care and professionalism.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current and valid Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certification recognized by the state.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of patient care and safety procedures.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in a senior care or long-term care facility.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Additional training in dementia or Alzheimer’s care.
  • Bilingual abilities to better serve a diverse resident population.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and feeding.
  • Monitor and document residents’ health conditions, reporting any changes or concerns promptly to nursing staff.
  • Provide mobility assistance, including helping residents move safely within the facility and during physical therapy sessions.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents by following infection control and safety protocols.
  • Support residents emotionally by offering companionship, listening to their concerns, and promoting social engagement.
  • Collaborate with nurses and other healthcare professionals to implement individualized care plans.
  • Assist with the preparation and serving of meals, ensuring dietary restrictions and preferences are respected.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to maintain certification and improve caregiving skills.
