Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated Assistant Project Manager to support our project management team in planning, coordinating, and executing construction projects. This role offers an excellent opportunity to grow your career in construction management while working on impactful projects.
Responsibilities:
Communication
· Convey company goals to field and office staff.
· Establish and maintain strong relationships within the Project Team.
· Maintain effective, honest communication with the project owner.
Safety
· Ensure safety is a top priority at the jobsite.
· Confirm timely approval of safety submittals, AHA’s, plans, and HAZCOM documentation.
· Monitor project safety through weekly jobsite visits.
· Attend and participate in Cox Construction Co.’s Quarterly Manager Safety Meeting.
Quality
· Understand contract, plans, and specification requirements.
· Problem-solve discrepancies in contract documents.
· Review design and construction phase documents for compliance.
· Ensure project close-out efforts and monitor RFIs.
· Manage P.E.’s submittal priority list and quality of submissions.
Schedule
· Facilitate project start-up procedures.
· Develop and monitor project schedule with the Superintendent.
· Perform schedule analysis and communicate updates to stakeholders.
Budgets
· Support preparation of project estimates and subcontracts.
· Control job cost systems and analyze financial data.
· Prepare monthly forecasts, cost reports, and billings.
· Manage change orders and subcontract revisions.
· Obtain permits, insurance, and bonds for timely project delivery.
Miscellaneous
· Identify and minimize risk.
· Train and motivate project personnel.
· Ensure compliance with Cox Construction Co.’s Project Procedures Manual.
· Coordinate labor and equipment requirements.
· Monitor subcontractor insurance and payroll.
· Organize and file project photos.
· Provide leadership in safety.
Qualifications
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
· Experience: Minimum 2 years of field experience in construction and 2–4 years of project management experience required.
· Required Knowledge: Familiarity with design-build and government contracting is required.
· Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with RMS (Resident Management System) and USACE project workflows; proficiency in MS Office Suite; strong understanding of construction processes, scheduling, cost control, RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
· Soft Skills: Excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to work collaboratively and adapt to changing priorities.
· Other Requirements: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; ability to travel to job sites as needed.
