Job Title: Behavioral Health TechnicianDepartment: OperationsReports To: Executive Director
Position Summary:The BHT is responsible for supervising the day-to-day activities of the clients in our care. They provide supervision onsite, provide transportation if needed, and ensure that important information is communicated to the clinical, nursing and medical team, and leadership as appropriate. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversees adherence a daily structure for clients
- Supervises clients at the clinical offices
- Transports clients to and from appointments and meetings, when necessary.
- Educates new clients about the rules
- Orients new clients to the facility
- Follows Infection Control Guidelines at all times.
- Completes and forwards copy of Incident Reports and any other safety/risk issues immediately to leadership
- Provides a daily report on the observations made that shift
- Conducts Waived tests as required
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid driver’s license, in good standing.
- CPR certification preferred.
Experience:
- Experience in a similar role preferred
- Knowledge of substance abuse recovery models, community resources, and social service systems.
- Experience working with individuals in recovery and those with co-occurring mental health disorders is a plus.
- Proven ability to maintain client confidentiality and adhere to ethical and professional standards.

- Familiarity with the legal and ethical guidelines surrounding substance abuse treatment, including HIPAA, confidentiality, and reporting requirements.
Responsibilities
- Assist with intake assessments and gather comprehensive medical and behavioral histories while ensuring HIPAA compliance to protect patient confidentiality.
- Monitor and record vital signs accurately to track health status and inform treatment plans.
- Implement behavior management techniques, including applied behavior analysis (ABA), to support individual goals and reduce challenging behaviors.
- Provide crisis intervention and crisis management when necessary, maintaining safety for clients and staff at all times.
- Support patients with medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper documentation in medical records.
- Collect data on patient behaviors and progress to evaluate treatment effectiveness and inform ongoing care strategies.
- Collaborate with social workers, medical staff, and families to develop personalized care plans that address each individual’s unique needs.
Requirements
- Prior experience working with children or individuals with developmental disabilities is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and crisis management protocols is essential for ensuring safety during challenging situations.
- Familiarity with working with individuals with autism, PTSD, or addiction counseling is a plus.
- Ability to perform medical procedures such as taking vital signs and understanding medical terminology for accurate documentation.
- Strong skills in behavior management, applied behavior analysis (ABA), and social work principles are necessary for effective patient support.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
