Job Purpose Summary:
Responsible for dispatching drivers and securing pick-ups and deliveries in a timely manner, and maintaining records and data entry to transfer to billing.
Key Responsibilities:
· Direct and monitor the movements of trucks and freight
· Track and manage drivers & Dispatch drivers for shipment pick-ups and deliveries
· Monitor driver's schedules and hours
· Assign drivers to trucks and make sure that they leave and arrive on schedule
· Prioritize time sensitive cargo
· Communicate with truck drivers through computers & phones
· Interact with clients and drivers to keep up-to-date information on Pick-ups & deliveries.
· Interacts with the client to address any concerns or changes,
· Handle any requests and complaints from customers
· Resolve any issues that may affect the scheduled times for pickup or delivery including mechanical problems with trucks, delays due to traffic or weather challenges or changes requested by the customer regarding times or locations.
· Stay organized and prioritize the order of calls
· Update shipment tracking system and maintain timely data integrity
· Check drivers in and transfer the trip records into a company’s files
· Review drivers' hours of service based on current Department of Transportation regulations by utilizing time card system, driver logs / manifests, receipts and any other information available.
· Hand out and record acceptance of written company information that is given to employees
· Maintain total confidentiality of all activities, including written and oral communication, both internally and externally
· Must work safely at all times and comply with all safety policies and procedures.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
Experience:
- Container Freight Dispatch: 1 year (Preferred)
- Freight Dispatching: 1 year (Required)
