The Operations Manager shall assist in promoting and maintaining the terminal structure and standards of operations as prescribed by leadership.Schedule:Monday-Friday 7AM to 5PMJob Duties:Proactively address safety concerns by:Communicating safety goals and standards to Fleet ManagementProvide resources for safety concern resolutionRegular reviews of terminal “safety health"Ensure Fleet and Fleet Management are in compliance in the following areas:Driver fitness (DOT physical)Driver documents (license, annual review, etc.)Hours of ServiceAssist in facilitating random driver testing as neededPersonal protective equipment (PPE)Partner with Fleet Management to offer the highest level of driver satisfaction in the industry. Retention goals to be set and measured by Senior Cowan ManagementPartner with leadership and customer to provide high level customer satisfaction.The Operations Manager is responsible for all terminal expirations, and coordination between various departments and Fleet ManagementMaintain proper level of terminal operations staffing (schedules/coverage of work load)Driver master schedule development and maintenanceOversight of the Fleet planning and plan executionProvide Fleet Management with updated special load requirements as dictated by the customerMonitor and measure assessorial charges collected/missed. Address with Fleet Management as needed.Daily review of Cowan Connect standards by Fleet. Areas of focus:30-minute complianceLate reason codingDetention notes/collectionCoach and counsel your Fleet Management team in the following areas (subject to Terminal Manager approval)AttendanceCowan Connect performance of Fleet ManagementCustomer care and serviceDevelop Fleet Management performance improvement plans as needed, in partnership with leadershipParticipate in driver mentoring and driver appreciation activitiesAsset management, relating to:Tractor/trailer PM schedulingEquipment moves/positioningRental equipment tracking and managementRegular equipment condition inspectionsQuarterly review of Terminal performance with leadership.Review revenue per truck per day with leadership. Identify areas of opportunity (BH lanes, empty miles, etc). Develop improvement plan as needed with leadership. Execute plans with Fleet Management.Review OTR miles and local pay, ensuring efficiency, utilization and driver compensation goalsOther duties as assigned at Senior Management discretionJob Requirements:3-5 years’ industry experience1-3 years’ direct report management experienceTMS experience required.
