Department Description:
Come splash into the Water Safety! Whether you’re scanning the waters of the wave pool or assisting guests on slides, you will be in the front lines keeping guest safe. Lifeguards are responsible for the safety of the guests by overseeing assigned areas. They will be working outside in all weather conditions with the expectation that a proper scan is maintained during their shift. Lifeguards protect and assist distressed swimmers in times of need, they also communicate with guests regarding safety issues for all areas and attractions. If you do not have a Cowabunga Bay approved water safety certificate, you will be required to obtain one at your expense.
Department Qualifications:
- Attend and complete a Lifeguard Training Course hosted by Cowabunga Bay for your Star Guard Elite license.
- Attend all related in-service training sessions, 4 hours required each month.
- Operate ride attractions within the waterpark.
- Assist guests on and off the attractions.
- Implement the “10/20 Protection Rule” while on stand to ensure the safety of guests.
- Perform rescues and utilize lifesaving techniques when required.
- Willfully perform duties in any department of Operations at Cowabunga Bay.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for guests and team members.
- Follow all delegated tasks assigned by supervisors/managers or as stated in the Standard Operating Procedures and the Star Guard Elite training.
- Operate queue line at the attraction.
- Provide excellent customer service skills while in all positions.
- You will be certified by licensed instructors upon employment. No previous lifeguard certification is required.
- Minimum 16 years of age for special facilities.
General Qualifications:
- May be required to stand for long periods of time.
- May be required to lift at least 20-50 lbs.
- May be required to be exposed to direct sunlight, hot temperatures, or rain.
- Must be able to multi-task and be flexible in a fast-pace environment.
- Must be able to work well with others.
- Must be able to communicate effectively.
