Summary:
Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Business Office Manager oversees all community accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and preparation of all Skilled Nursing Facility private pay, insurance, secondary insurance and Medicare/Medi-Cal billing. The Business Office Manager also serves as the campus information systems liaison with the Home Office Accounting Department.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee all community accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and preparation of all Skilled Nursing Facility private pay, insurance, secondary insurance, and Medicare and Medi-Cal billing.
  • Responsible for and/or overseeing all accounting for documenting, preparing, and distributing Care Center resident statements. May also assist with Residential receivables/billing.
  • Responsible for and/or overseeing aging/past-due account collections and analysis by Front Porch policies and procedures manual. Make recommendations to the Executive Director regarding charge-offs.
  • Maintain business office records by federal and state guidelines and our established policies and procedures to ensure a complete business office program.
  • Partner with Health Services to improve interdepartmental coordination and timely reporting of ancillary charges.
  • Collaborate with the Human Resources department on staff-facing projects.
  • Review and provide detailed analysis of monthly financial statements, including variance reports.
  • Participate in internal and external financial audits.
  • Prepare and provide reports to Support Services accounting and the Executive Director.

Competencies and skills:

Essential:
* Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages
* Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
* Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and procedures manuals, safety rules and maintenance instructions
* Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
* Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
* Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization

Education with Equivalent Qualifications:

Essential:
* High School diploma or GED

Experience with Equivalent Qualifications:
Essential:

* 3 Years general bookkeeping experience

NonEssential:

* 1 Year proficiency with various computer financial packages and the Microsoft Suite
