Covia is looking for a dynamic 2nd shift Dredge Operator who will have a positive impact on the Operations team at its Tuscaloosa, AL location. As a Dredge Operator, you will mainly be responsible for the safe operation of our cutterhead dredge.
The successful candidate will have the following Key Accountabilities:
- Ensure Safety is the top priority. All activities are to be completed following MSHA regulations, Plant procedures, and Corporate Safety and Health policies.
- Ensure compliance with quality procedures and standards
- Communicate with key personnel at shift change, daily
- Perform other job duties as assigned
The successful candidate will have the following Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Literacy in English, both verbally and written
- Previous experience within sand mining operations preferred, but not required
- Demonstrated ability to operate heavy equipment adequately
- Oral and written communication skills
- Swimming is a preferred skill to have
- Basic mechanical aptitude
