Position Overview

The Community Engagement Coordinator is the primary staff member responsible for building and strengthening Covered Colorado's relationships within the community. This role serves as a visible representative of Covered Colorado. This role is responsible for increasing community awareness, engagement, and financial support by building strategic partnerships, securing sponsorships for organizational events and initiatives, and developing connections with businesses, churches, civic groups, individual donors, and community partners through networking and speaking engagements.

The Community Engagement Coordinator will focus heavily on networking, outreach, donor cultivation, sponsorship development, and community presence. The ideal candidate is outgoing, relationship-driven, and passionate about community impact and visibility.

Community Engagement & Donor Development

● Develop outreach strategies to expand community engagement and organizational visibility.

● Act as a spokesperson for Covered Colorado in the community, proactively seeking speaking engagements, building visibility and credibility.

● Attend networking events, business association meetings, faith community gatherings, and local forums to represent Covered Colorado.

● Host and lead tours at the Care and Education Center to cultivate relationships.

● Build and develop relationships with individuals, businesses, churches, civic organizations, and community leaders that result in donor engagement.

● Maintain strong relationships with current donors through consistent engagement and appreciation.

● Work with organizational leadership to identify and cultivate prospective donors and sponsors.

● Maintain donor activity records and assist in tracking donor engagement and fundraising efforts.

● Track outreach activities, sponsorship commitments, and partnership outcomes.

● Assist with media opportunities as needed.

 

Fundraising & Events

● Work with the Development team to develop and implement fundraising strategies to increase individual, corporate, and foundation support.

● Work with the Development team on donor pipeline development.

● Identify, solicit, and secure sponsorships for all organizational events and initiatives.

● Launch and oversee community engagement activities that support fundraising initiatives.

● Work with Development Coordinator in coordinating annual fundraising and awareness events.

● Be present at Covered fundraising events.

Requirements

● 3 years of experience (volunteer or paid) in fundraising, business development, community engagement, sales, marketing, nonprofit development, public relations, or a related field preferred.

● In agreement with Covered Colorado's Values, Mission, and Vision.

● Humble, credible, trustworthy, teachable, and a self-starter.

● Effective and creative communicator with strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

● Strong relationship-building, networking, and donor cultivation abilities.

● Comfortable with direct solicitation of financial support, including sponsorship requests, donor meetings, fundraising asks, and stewardship conversations.

● Confident public speaker with the ability to represent Covered Colorado confidently and articulately.

● Ability and willingness to facilitate trafficking awareness and prevention education.

● Self-motivated and proactive in identifying, developing, and pursuing new donors, sponsorships, partnerships, and community engagement opportunities.

● Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and relationships simultaneously.

● Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, donor databases/CRM systems, and other fundraising technology platforms preferred.

● Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners.

Conditional Offer of Employment is Contingent Upon:

● Possession of a valid driver's license and proof of insurance.

Time Requirements

This position will be completed in 40 hours per week. This position will occasionally include evening and weekend hours. Position may work some remote hours but must also be available to schedule face-to-face meetings with donors, corporations, and churches unless scheduled over zoom.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment as well as remote and uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, desktop computers and telephones.

Salary : $55,000 - $60,000
