What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laborer Packer position at COVERCRAFT INDUSTRIES?
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Under limited supervision, will perform packing and inspection functions
- Put into work all Priority List Goods and ensure that they are sewn and packed in accordance with the demands of the list.
- Ability to solve problems and work with a team to continuously improve production processes and achieve daily production goals.
- Inspect for Quality Assurance.
- Pack and prepare all finished products for shipping.
o Level 1: Verify the Sales order and amount of units’ match, make sure correct Instruction sheets go in each box, do kits as needed, print labels and put on boxes, pack and palletize all finished goods. Achieve quality level of 97% and productions efficiency levels of 80% efficiency within 90-day probationary period; must assume personal responsibility for achieving quality goals and demonstrate continuous improvement towards achieving 100% efficiency on assigned work within 6 months.
o Level 2: Must be able to pack and inspect products in 2 to 3 different areas, consistently achieve quality level of 97% and productions efficiency levels of 95% without refresher training; finish the product using machinery as Tacker and Grommet machine; able to share and demonstrate best practice methods with other packers.
o Level 3: Must be fully cross-trained, able to inspect and pack assemble products in all areas of the plant, consistently achieve quality level of 97% and productions efficiency levels of 105% without refresher training; able to share and demonstrate best practice methods with other packers.
- General housekeeping.
- Any other functions deemed necessary by the supervisor.
- Daily maintenance of area and machine.
AUTHORITY:
All personnel are responsible for quality and therefore have the authority to stop production, if necessary to correct quality problems.
SKILLS REQUIRED
- Ability to read and write numbers and to understand simple written English instructions.
- Basic knowledge of product line.
- Be able to be trained on how to pack each product according to customers specifications.
- Must be computer literate.
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to utilize data collection systems which may include data entry into a tablet or computer.
PREVIOUS WORK EXPERIENCE
1 to 3 months previous packing experience and/or training.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have 20/20 vision or correction to 20/20.
- Must be able to perceive colors and shades.
- Must be able to stand for entire shift.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on continuous basis.
- Must be able to lift, stoop, squat, bend and twist.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to work in moderate noise levels.
