Job Summary: Provides direct and indirect resident care under the direct supervision and control of the licensed nurse. Assists residents with activities of daily living, provides for personal care and comfort. Assists in maintaining a clean, safe resident environment and performs job responsibilities in a safe manner. Essential Job Responsibilities:
1. Performs personal care for the comfort and well-being of the resident, including taking vital signs
and weights. Feeding residents as appropriate and records dietary
intake; and assisting residents with transfers to bed, wheelchair, and walker.
2. Assists with meal delivery during meal time. Distributes ice, water, and nourishments
as appropriate. Provides activities and restorative care as directed.
May be asked to assist in meal delivery such as plating foods, serving residents during mealtimes, cleaning of kitchen, resident spaces and placing dishes in dishwasher as directed.
3. Cleans H &W equipment and store in appropriate place.
4. Keeps Charge Nurse informed of resident and employee issues.
5. Provides resident centered care.
6. Reports and documents information related to assigned duties in a timely,
thorough and accurate manner. Assumes accountability for accuracy of documentation.
7. Complies with current regulatory policies and standards, including Covenant Woods
employee policies.
8. Responds in calm, courteous and cooperative manner to residents, staff and public.
9. Completes yearly mandatory in-services. Attends other scheduled in-services and staff
meetings. Maintains CPR & First Aid certification.
10. Performs all other duties as assigned.
11. Follows Covenant Woods safety guidelines and practices at all times.
Working Conditions:
Works in a clean, well-lighted environment. May work alone or with others. Sometimes must work in noisy conditions. May be exposed to infections, odors, or diverse behaviors.
Equipment:
Must have the ability to use a Mechanical lift, bathing equipment, VS Monitoring equipment, oxygen administration devices and computers.
Education & Experience:
Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Must communicate fluently in English.
Job Specifications:
Must be a current Certified Nursing Assistant licensed in the State of Virginia. Current basic
CPR/AED and First Aid certification required.
Physical Requirements:
Work requires standing, walking, reaching, handling items, and feeling for most of the shift. Stooping, kneeling, crouching and sitting are required. Must be able to lift an average of 25 pounds up to maximum of 50 pounds; carry an average of 10 pounds up to 15 pounds; and push or pull an average of 20 pounds up to a maximum of 25 pounds. Intact sense of sight, hearing, smell, and touch required. Finger dexterity needed.
