Recreation Aide
This position reports to the Recreation Supervisor and is an hourly, non-exempt role.

Position Overview
The Recreation Aide supports the planning and delivery of recreation and non-vocational activities. This role assists in creating structured programs that encourage student participation, promote wellness, and reinforce positive behavior.
You will help ensure activities are safe, organized, and aligned with center expectations while serving as a mentor and role model to students.

Core Responsibilities
• Assists in organizing and implementing recreation and leisure-learning activities that encourage student participation
• Supports the development and execution of weekly contests, tournaments, and group activities
• Assists with center-sponsored trips and events, including escorting and chaperoning students
• May transport students for activities in accordance with center guidelines
• Supports water safety programming, including swim lessons and documentation, when applicable
• Coaches or assists with intramural and team-based activities
• Provides guidance in fitness and wellness activities, including proper techniques and healthy habits
• Assists with recreational clubs such as arts, music, drama, and other creative programs
• Mentors students participating in recreation programs to support development of life skills
• Ensures all activities comply with DOL and center requirements
• Maintains accountability of students and ensures safety during all activities
• Attends required staff training sessions
• Promotes a safe environment free from harassment, intimidation, bullying, and disrespect
• Models appropriate behavior and reinforces Career Success Standards
• Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
• Associate degree or one year of related experience working with youth preferred
• Experience in recreation or youth programs preferred
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record required
• CDL with passenger endorsement preferred
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Additional Requirements
• Knowledge of a variety of recreation and leisure activities
• Ability to obtain and maintain CPR, First Aid, and AED certification
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to motivate and engage a diverse student population
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and maintain professional relationships
