Overview
Since 1972, Covenant House has served and advocated for youth and young families experiencing homelessness, human trafficking, and exploitation. Our overarching goal is to end homelessness among youth and young families by helping them achieve housing stability, heal from trauma, tap into their innate resilience, and hone their interests and skills to forge new pathways to independence.

About the Role

Goal of Position:
To provide direct, supportive, and individualized care to youth accessing services within the Crisis Residential Program in a positive, trauma-informed, and holistic manner, while fostering a safe, structured, and supportive environment that promotes stability, growth, and overall well-being.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of client goal plans.
  • Supervise all client activity to ensure a safe, healthy environment, which reflects agency principles.
  • Facilitate and monitor support services such as meals, activities, and all group or individual sessions.
  • Inform appropriate personnel, in a timely fashion of any operating issues needing attention.
  • Work with clients individually as needed, including escorts (e.g., one to one counseling, providing an escort to appointments, interviews, and activities).
  • Participate in team case management meetings, case reviews, transition, and other team meetings.
  • Accurate and comprehensive documentation of information regarding all client interactions, caseload progress, inter or intra-agency contacts or general information pertinent to a youth’s progress.
  • Accurate and timely completion of all status and grant related reporting and documentation.
  • Ensure responsible allocation and documentation of petty cash and resources in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
  • Be flexible to meet the changing needs of the youth we serve.
  • Participate in the development of program resources for the population we serve.
  • Exhibit professional behavior in all interactions with staff and youth.
  • Assist residents with daily tasks and ensure and provide residential support as needed.
  • To contact youth on the street or in other unsafe situations and deliver street-based services such as counseling, emergency referrals, basic needs (e.g., food, blankets, or clothing)
  • Develop relationships within the Community Drop-in Center to ensure that youth needs are met in an immediate and effective manner in line with agency Mission and philosophy.
  • All program staff are required to stay for an additional shift if/when there is no coverage relating to emergencies or staff call outs. This includes all shifts, holidays, weekends, or inclement weather.
  • Any other duties assigned by management staff.
Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma with 2-4 years of applicable experience
  • excellent communication and crisis management skills; strong desire to work with at-risk adolescents; ability to handle physically and emotionally challenging situations; excellent assessment and judgment.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a human service field or Associates Degree in human service field preferred.
