Job Description


The CHART Project Specialist will support the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of statewide initiatives focused on youth homelessness, human trafficking, and systems capacity building. This role will work closely with the Associate Director of Research, Learning, & Advocacy to launch and manage new CHART initiatives while also supporting CHNJ’s broader training, technical assistance, research, and advocacy portfolio.
We are currently seeking a Specialist to support the statewide implementation of a school-based human trafficking prevention initiative. The Specialist will support implementation of the PROTECT curriculum developed by 3 Strands Global Foundation (3SGF), while also assisting schools and youth-serving organizations with prevention education, identification practices, and connections to services. Candidates for this position are required to be bilingual in Spanish and English and may be based out of either the Newark or Atlantic City office.
This position will play a key role in ensuring strong project coordination, effective data collection and management, and high-quality training and technical assistance delivery. The CHART Project Specialist will also support grant reporting, stakeholder engagement, and efforts to elevate issues impacting youth experiencing homelessness and human trafficking across New Jersey.
Duties and responsibilities
  • Serve as a lead or co-lead on newly launching CHNJ initiatives focused on homelessness and human trafficking
  • Support coordination and implementation of CHNJ’s statewide training and technical assistance efforts across multiple projects
  • Assist with planning, rollout, and ongoing management of project activities and deliverables
  • Coordinate across internal teams and external partners to support effective implementation of initiatives
  • Support development and facilitation of train-the-trainer models
  • Ensure project activities are aligned with goals, timelines, and best practices
  • Design, coordinate, and facilitate trainings for children and youth, parents, school staff, community organizations, and partners
  • Provide ongoing technical assistance to organizations implementing CHNJ-supported programs, curricula, tools, or initiatives
  • Respond to requests for guidance, consultation, and implementation support
  • Support development of training materials, presentations, toolkits, and other educational resources
  • Assist with integration of CHNJ programming and service pathways into training content
  • Assist with data collection, cleaning, organization, analysis, and synthesis to support program improvement and decision-making
  • Support the preparation of reports, summaries, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders
  • Support development and maintenance of educational materials
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of tools, processes, and implementation supports
  • Conduct outreach and support engagement with community members, schools, community organizations, and system partners
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders across New Jersey
  • Support advocacy efforts related to youth homelessness and human trafficking, including elevating trends, gaps, and system needs identified through CHNJ’s work
  • Support fulfillment of grant reporting requirements and project deliverables
  • Respond to work phone and email communications daily
  • Represent CHNJ as needed at internal and external meetings and events
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

Salary $ 67,000 a year


Experience and Skills


  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, education, public health, human services, psychology, nonprofit management, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in project management, training and technical assistance, youth services, education, homelessness, human trafficking response, or related fields
  • Strong understanding of issues impacting youth and families experiencing homelessness and/or human trafficking, including trauma-informed and youth-centered practices
  • Experience developing and facilitating trainings, presentations, workshops, or educational materials
  • Experience coordinating projects, managing multiple priorities, and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presentation skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and virtual meeting/training platforms
  • Proficiency in Canva preferred
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a team
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to travel throughout New Jersey as needed
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
  • Bilingual Spanish/English proficiency is required
  • Experience working with schools or school systems preferred
  • Some evening or occasional weekend availability may be required for trainings or events
