The Clinical Associate – Diagnostic Imaging demonstrates excellent customer service performance in that his/her attitude and actions are at all times consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission and Values of Covenant HealthCare and the commitment to Extraordinary Care for Every Generation. This individual, under direct supervision of a physician and the indirect supervision of a radiographer, performs fluoroscopic examinations utilizing safe radiation practices. He/she assists the medical, technical and nursing staff in the transport and preparation of patients; maintains procedure rooms and work areas; and is responsible for inventory control. He/she also maintains appropriate records in accordance with regulatory agencies.
The Clinical Associate – Diagnostic Imaging has clinical contact with patients in the following age groups (adolescent, adult, geriatric) and is able to appropriately assess, care for and treat them according to the age appropriate care guidelines as defined by Covenant HealthCare.

The main responsibilities for this position are:
Works under the direct supervision of a physician and/or radiographer with the performance of fluoroscopic examinations utilizing safe radiation practices.
Assists radiographers, nurses and/or physicians during the performance of procedures, and documents relevant information.
Is responsible for setting up, and manipulating and recording images generated during fluoroscopic procedures; processes data media via computer, film processing, etc
Explains procedures to patients.
Reviews medical charts for pertinent history; obtains clinical history; prepares/interviews and explains procedure to patients under his/her care
Prepares procedure rooms and equipment.
Ensures appropriateness of order; processes orders as required; charges supplies and exams
Transports patients to and from the imaging area as needed.
Responsible for inventory control and stocking linen
Follows proper procedures for maintaining a sterile field; follows procedure for cleaning up contaminated materials and supplies
Performs visual preventive maintenance checks, records and schedules service repairs, PM�s, etc.
Maintains proficiency in all computer functionality necessary to perform job duties(RIS, PACS, QC, email, etc.)
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High School graduate or equivalent.
BCLS certification
Preferred:
Previous experience in radiology services
Previous 12 months current experience with direct patient care
Six months or more PC/computer experience
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Completed medical terminology course or its equivalent
Successful completion of Basic Anatomy and Physiology
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel and the public
Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques
Proven ability to work independently
Successful completion of 4 weeks of “on-the-job training with a registered radiographer for optimizing fluoroscopic quality, radiation protection, image manipulation, data recording, etc.
