Company Description: Founded in the 1930s, our client is a private club which enables our 200 members to enjoy their time by the ocean sunning, playing sports or dining with friends outside or inside. Located on beautiful, Coastal New England where the sun, granite boulders and sand delight all endlessly, we offer a 6-month fulltime job as General Manager (GM) from April to October. This is ideal for a GM who would also like the freedom to live and work elsewhere from November to March.
Role Description: Reporting to the President, the GM is responsible for all day-to-day operations of the Club. This includes Food Service, Private Events, Facilities, Grounds, Human Resources, Financial Operations and Risk and Computer Management. Directly manages the Chef for Food Service and Events and the Manager of Facilities and Grounds. This includes a weekly formal dinner, two seaside casual dinners, daily luncheons and weekend activities. Indirectly leading a team approaching 40, he/she will oversee member relations, employee relations and matters, vendor relations and contracts and collaborate with the managers to recruit, mentor and manage employees. He/She will work with the Board and three Committee heads to manage on-going risks and opportunities to ensure outstanding membership expereience, regulatory compliance and profitability.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, including the ability to coach, develop, and motivate staff.
- Strong operational and organizational management skills, with experience overseeing processes, workflows, performance metrics and technology.
- Solid financial acumen, including experience with budgeting, forecasting, and managing profit and loss.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills with internal stakeholders, clients, and external partners.
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of operational improvements.
- Prior experience and success in hospitality, food service, real estate operations, resort and/or spa services is ideal. Military management of these operations is also applicable.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Hospitality or a related discipline.
- Prefers a multi-location work arrangement, including Spring to Fall in New England and Winter to Spring working elsewhere.
