Role Description
The principal work of the pastor is spiritual discipleship through biblical preaching and teaching, partnering with us in mission, and equipping us for ministry.
Areas of Focus:
> Communicate to believers and those who are not yet believers that Jesus loves them and encourages lifelong spiritual growth.
> Passionately practice personal evangelism and empower the congregation to do the same.
> Champion and embody the mission of Covenant.
> Disciple and invest in staff, key leaders, elders, and deacons so they can effectively serve in their roles while equipping others.
> Plan and lead worship in conjunction with the worship leader, which includes administering the sacraments.
Other Responsibilities and Expectations
> Encourage collaboration with our ministry partners.
> Provide pastoral care in cooperation with Care Teams.
> Provide short-term counseling for members and make referrals as needed.
> Conduct wedding and funeral services aligning with the Great Lakes City Middle Assemblies and within a pastor's discernment.
> Provide staff supervision, evaluation, and coaching in coordination with the admin team.
> Ordained in the RCA or ordination recognized in the RCA, and in agreement with RCA standards and confessions.
> Become an active, committed member of the Great Lakes City Middle Assembly.
