Principal Responsibilities:
Directs and organizes the activities of the hotel restaurant(s) to maintain high standards of food and beverage quality, service and marketing to maximize profits through outstanding customer service. The Restaurant Supervisor is the Food and Beverage department lead in the absence of a Food and Beverage Manager/Director.
Essential Functions:
- Plan, direct, assign and delegate responsibility and authority for all functions of administration and planning of the restaurants to meet the daily needs of the operations.
- Maximize food and beverage department profitability. Implement effective controls of food, beverage, and labor costs and monitor the restaurants’ budget to ensure efficient operations, including achieving budgeted revenue and labor expenses.
- Monitor and, when necessary, develop and implement schedules for the operation of all restaurants and bars to achieve a profitable result.
- Regularly review and evaluate the degree of customer satisfaction of the restaurants. Investigate and resolve food quality and service complaints. Respond to all guest inquiries and special guest requests.
- Take necessary action to ensure all food and beverage standards are being met. Frequently test food and beverage products and presentation for consistency and quality.
- Recommend new marketing and/or operational policies and procedures when necessary to keep up with demand and market changes. Develop, implement, and market new and creative menu items to attract a pre-determined customer segment such as holiday and special event promotions. Promote the cross-selling of other hotel outlets and Packard-managed hotels.
- Lead by example. Perform any duties required during times of emergency and/or high volume and show positive leadership to all team members.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures that relate to the restaurant as well as all local, state and federal laws and regulations. Maintain cleanliness and proper sanitation of all work and service areas.
Supportive Functions:
In addition to the performance of the essential functions, this position maybe required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the company.
- Participate in the development of the annual budget for the restaurants. Develop short and long-term financial operating plans.
- Attend mandatory meetings including divisional meetings, staff meetings, etc.
- Participate in community public relations for the restaurants and the hotel.
- Utilize traditional software programs such as Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint and/or Outlook Express.
- Keep work area clean and organized.
- Complete other duties as assigned by manager.
- Demonstrate positive leadership characteristics which inspire team members to meet and exceed standards.
The Restaurant Supervisor Reports directly to Food & Beverage Manager.
Requirements:
Education
High School graduate or equivalent required.
Experience
At least three years experience as a food and beverage/restaurant supervisor required.
Licenses or Certificates
Food Service Sanitation, Alcohol Service Permit (if state-required), CPR Certification, and/or First Aid Training preferred.
Grooming
All team members must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance (specific standards available).
Other
Additional language ability preferred.
