What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician Lead position at Cove Communities?
The Lead Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing and overseeing maintenance of community buildings, facilities, grounds, and related equipment. This role includes inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural systems while ensuring work orders are prioritized and completed in a timely manner. The Lead Maintenance Technician works closely with management, team members, vendors, and contractors, and may lead or coordinate the work of other maintenance staff to support safe, efficient, and well-maintained community operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Inspect, monitor, diagnose, and maintain buildings, facilities, and grounds.
- Perform repairs related to plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, flooring, and general maintenance.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment.
- Perform electrical work such as replacing bulbs, ballasts, outlets, and handling basic circuitry.
- Handle plumbing tasks including fixtures, pipes, faucets, clogs, and water or septic emergencies.
- Oversee lawn and landscaping care.
- Execute routine work orders and prioritized emergency repairs.
- Operate company vehicles and forklifts safely and report maintenance needs.
- Follow all safety protocols.
- Collaborate with management on complex work orders.
- Serve as backup for management during high-demand periods.
- Lead maintenance staff and support efficient daily operations.
- Support continuous improvement of maintenance processes.
Compensation:
$23-$25
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 5 years of maintenance experience (manufacturing or facilities environment preferred).
- Training or education in maintenance trades may substitute for experience.
- Familiarity with maintenance ticketing systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Forklift certification required.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
