Role Description: As a CAD Designer, you'll create detailed construction documents that serve as the foundation for every custom home we build. Working closely with our Home Specialists, Design Specialists, and Operations team, you'll develop accurate, buildable plans while balancing creativity, functionality, structural integrity, and code compliance.
- Create and revise residential construction drawings, floor plans, elevations, and detailed construction documents.
- Translate customer selections, architectural concepts, and design modifications into accurate, buildable CAD plans.
- Produce complete drawing sets for permitting, estimating, construction, and field operations.
- Coordinate with Home Specialists, Design Specialists, Project Managers, and leadership throughout the design process.
- Review plans for accuracy, consistency, constructability, and compliance with company standards.
- Ensure drawings meet applicable building codes, engineering requirements, and permitting regulations.
- Maintain organized digital project files and documentation.
- Assist in resolving design questions and revisions during the construction process.
- Identify opportunities to improve drafting standards, efficiencies, and internal design processes.
- Contribute to the continual evolution of Couto Homes' floor plan library and drafting standards.
What We're Looking For:
- Experience creating residential construction documents using CAD software.
- Strong understanding of residential construction methods and building systems.
- Ability to produce accurate, detailed, and organized construction drawings.
- Knowledge of residential building codes and permitting requirements.

- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred:
- Experience in residential homebuilding or custom home design.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams in a homebuilding environment.
- Familiarity with structural and construction documentation standards.
