Position Summary
The Court Services Specialist – Pretrial Services is responsible for the assessment and supervision of pretrial defendants and plays an important role in the criminal justice process.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting assessments and supervising pretrial defendants.
- Managing the defendant check-in system.
- Scheduling and monitoring client urinalysis.
- Screening and interviewing defendants for First Appearance hearings.
- Attending First Appearance hearings and reporting assessment results and recommendations to the Court.
- Greeting visitors to the Pretrial Services office and directing them to the appropriate staff.
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation.
- Communicating professionally and effectively with defendants, attorneys, court personnel, law enforcement, and members of the public.
- Maintaining strict confidentiality and exercising sound judgment in all interactions.
Qualifications
Applicants must meet one of the following:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from an accredited four-year college or university; OR
- One to two years of related experience and/or training; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Professionalism and sound judgment.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to maintain confidential information.
- Ability to interact professionally with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including defendants, attorneys, court personnel, and the public.
- Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
TRAINING PROVIDED TO QUALIFIED APPLICANTS!
You do not have to have prior Pretrial Services experience to be considered. Qualified applicants will receive training to prepare them for the responsibilities of the position.
