General Description: The class advisor works with students and class officers in the assigned grade to develop leadership skills, to schedule appropriate activities, and to maintain appropriate records of meetings, income and expenditures.
The activity advisor facilitates development of participating students to fulfill the goals of the activity, schedules practices and attendance at competitions, coordinates publicity and student recognition, maintains equipment necessary for the activity, supervises volunteers assisting with the activity, and oversees budgeting for the activity.
Essential Job Functions:
· Foster a sense of leadership and participation among students.
· Help students to develop a schedule of activities and fund-raisers for the year, and review the schedule with the school principal. For grades 6-10, a minimum of four activities outside the school day are to be scheduled. For grades 11 and 12, a minimum of six activities outside the school day are to be scheduled.
· Coordinate with the school principal or designee to schedule activities on the school calendar.
· Obtain approval in accordance with Board policy for any fundraising activities or solicitation of funds.
· Establish a budget for use during the year and provides appropriate accounting for expenditures and receipts.
· Facilitate student preparation of agendas for each student meeting.
· Facilitate student preparations for planned activities (publicity, decorations, etc.).
· Ensure that participating students follow school and activity rules and regulations.
· Personally chaperone or arrange for another teacher to chaperone each activity sponsored by the class or group.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
· a high school diploma;
· a demonstrated ability to communicate and work well with others;
· a helpful, calm, friendly, and polite manner when interacting with students, parents and school staff;
· the ability to make reasoned decisions;
· appropriate discretion concerning students, staff, and confidential information.

Working Conditions:
- Works from an office, classroom, or other school facility.
- Moves within the school and occasionally between school locations.
- May be actively engaged in physical activity with students.
- Sits or stands when using a computer.
- Bends, twists, and lifts up to 20 pounds.
- Uses a telephone to communicate.
- Occasionally exposed to high decibel alarm systems during drills or an actual emergency.
