Required: Washington State Teaching Certificate, Endorsed in Chemistry & Physics
Location: Coupeville High School
Supervisor: School Principal
Hourly Wage: Commensurate with experience and the CEA Salary Schedule
Days/Hours: 180/7.5
FTE: 1.0
General Responsibilities: Each teacher assumes responsibility for the education of students assigned to them in accordance with the district Mission Statement.

Specific Responsibilities and Duties: The teacher:
- directs the learning experience of each student through instructional processes tailored to student needs;
- uses appropriate assessment procedures to evaluate the degree to which each student masters the learning objectives established by the board;
- maintains records and/or prepares daily reports of student attendance, initiates discipline report procedures as appropriate, prepares student progress reports, and provides such reports to parents/guardians, as requested by the school principal;
- participates in the planning and evaluation of the instructional program, and interprets the same to parents as necessary;
- maintains a classroom atmosphere that fosters student learning;
- professionally handles concerns or complaints;
- properly and safely uses the materials and equipment provided by the district;
- develops and maintains cordial working relationships with other district employees;
- participates in continuing inservice opportunities and reviews publications and professional materials to keep informed of developments in the field of teaching and to improve personal performance;
- accepts a reasonable amount of responsibilities beyond classroom activities, as requested by the school principal.
- have a valid and appropriate Washington State teaching certificate;meet the highly qualified teacher requirements of the federal No Child Left Behind Act, or develop an appropriate plan of assistance to meet these requirements, if teaching in the core academic areas of English, Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, History, Civics/Government, Geography, Economics, World Languages, Art or if teaching students who have a special education IEP;
- have current immunizations;
- have a demonstrated ability to communicate and work well with others.
