To perform administrative duties overseeing the direct supervision of all Corrections Officers and Officers ln Charge (OlC) who in return oversee the care, custody and control of inmates' Will assists the Warden and Chief Deputy Warden in planning, developing, and implementing the institutional operations and functions of the prison Acts on behalf of the Warden and/or Chief Deputy Warden in their absence.
1. Assumes delegated responsibility for custody and security of assigned inmates, buildings,
grounds and operations.
2. Reviews and prepares reports and correspondence.
3. Oversees Prison inside community service program.
4. Inspects facility weekly and supervises cleaning and maintenance.
5. Assumes delegated responsibility for custody and security of assigned inmates, buildings,
grounds and operations.
6. Schedules, assigns, oversees and reviews work of staff.
7. Coordinates plans and manages training activities.
8. Provides staff training and assists/instructs training exercises and records.
9. Determines priorities and plans shift and/or unit work.
10. Administers pertinent laws, regulations and posts orders.
11. Makes security rounds and supervises head count as well as the safety of the prisons in order
12. May participate in inmate, employee disciplinary, and grievance hearings.
13. May quell disturbances or assist custodial personnel.
14. Inspects posts frequently to ensure adequate staffing.
15. Assist in searches of incoming inmates and prepares them for commitment.
16. Assist management with disciplinary investigations.
17. Conducts performance evaluations.
18. Performs and directs investigations.
19. Maintains discipline among employees and inmates.
20. Maintains contact with individuals both within and outside agency who might have impact on
Prison population.
21. Maintain records and prepare records for Title 37 inspection standards.
22. Participates in crisis intervention as needed.
23. Assists in interviewing, hiring, and training of new staff.
24. Assists in counseling and intervention with inmates regarding problems or concerns as assigned.
25. Acts as liaison between prison staff and other county officers and city government
26. Interacts frequently with police agencies, courts, government offices, work release, County
officials, and general public.
27. Develops or makes recommendations on development of policies and standards.
28. PREA Compliance Manager --oversees staff regarding PREA regulations and updates.
1. Attends training, meetings, and in-services as required
2. Performs other job-related work as required.
Receives general direction from the Warden, Chief Deputy Warden, and Deputy Warden.
Supervises Corrections Officers and Officers ln Charge as well as other staff assigned by the Warden, Chief Deputy Warden, and Deputy Warden.
1. Works indoors in adequate workspace, lighting, temperatures and ventilation.
2. Works indoors with average exposure to noise, stress and disruptions.
3. Normal indoor exposure to dust/dirt.
4. Subject to working flexible shifts or on-call as required by the Warden or designate.
5. Potential exposure to blood borne pathogens or communicable diseases.
6. Works in conditions of potential outbursts of disruptive behaviors of clients.
1. Must possess ability to record, convey and present information, explain procedures and follow
instructions.
2. Must be able to stand for long periods throughout the workday with intermittent periods of
sitting, walking and talking; occasional twisting, bending, reaching pushing, pulling to carry out
job duties.
3. Dexterity requirements range from simple to coordinated movements of fingers/hands; feet/legs;
torso necessary to carry out job duties.
4. Sedentary work, with occasional lifting/carrying of objects with a maximum weight of ten
pounds.
5. Must be able to physically and mentally react quickly in the event of a disturbance or physical
outbreak.
6. Must be able to pay close attention to details and concentrate on work.
A.
High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's in Administration of Justice or other related field preferred; familiarity with basic computer operations. First aid and CPR helpful. Must be able to successfully acquire a certificate of training from the Department of Training
At least five years of related work experience with a minimum of two years' supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
· Must work in conjunction with employer to apply for Act 34 PA State Police Criminal History, Act 151 PA Child Abuse and FBI clearances prior to employment. All clearances must reflect acceptable results. Clearances must be renewed every three years.
· Must not appear on Preclusion Lists as defined by "Pennsylvania's Medical Assistance Bulletin 99-11-05 Provider Screening of Employees and Contractors for Exclusion from Participating in Federal Healthcare Programs."
· Must successfully complete pre-employment drug screening.
- Must be able to speak and understand the English language in an understandable manner in order to carry out essential job duties.

- Must possess ability to enforce rules and regulations with firmness.
- Must possess some knowledge and understanding of individual and group behavior and attitude of individuals under restraint.
- Must possess some knowledge of principles and practices of supervision and ability to supervise and oversee Officers in Charge, Corrections Officers, and details of various prison programs.
- Must be able to implement policies and procedures.
- Must possess excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Must have an open, unbiased attitude in all responsibilities of this position.
- Must be able to work with jail administrators in a "team role"
