This recruitment will establish an employment list to fill current and any future vacancies within the General Services Agency. The anticipated life of the employment list is six months. Minimum qualifications are used as a guide for establishing the education, training, experience, special skills and/or license which are required and equivalent to the following.
Education: Completion or equivalent to twelfth grade.
Experience: One (1) year of responsible gardening and grounds maintenance experience.
Knowledge Of
Candidates selected will be required to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. Additionally, a background investigation may also be conducted, which may include a re-investigation every 10 years for some positions. An Employment Eligibility Verification using E-Verify may be required on the first day of employment for some positions. Some job classes may also require a physical exam.

- Perform grounds maintenance and clean-up tasks at County parks or building areas.
- Operate a variety of motorized equipment and use a variety of hand tools including mowers, sweepers, tractors, edgers and chainsaws.
- Mow and edge lawns and landscaped areas.
- Plant, transplant, cultivate, prune, fertilize and irrigate flowers, trees, shrubs and lawns.
- Repair and maintain sprinkler systems.

- Perform manual labor.
- Observe safe work practices.
- Read and understand park rules and regulations.
- Give and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Use patience, tact and courtesy when dealing with co-workers and the public.
- Complete job orders and time sheets.
