CONCRETE FINISHER & MAINTENANCE WORKER II
This recruitment will establish an employment list to fill current and any future vacancies within the Public Works Department -Tulare County Resource Management Agency (RMA) . Current vacancy is with Resource Management Agency (RMA) located at Visalia Road Yard at 14001 Ave 256, Visalia, CA.
Work Schedule: Summer 4/10's, Winter 5/8's
Typical Duties
Perform concrete work such as setting forms, laying, finishing, and repairing concrete.
Construct curb, gutter, and sidewalk, manholes, wingwalls and ADA ramps.
Repair damaged culverts, bridges and wingwalls.
Operate light trucks in pickup and delivery of equipment.
Work with the Road crew to perform road related maintenance work.
Act as traffic flagman.
Keep project site clean and safe at all times.
Perform signing of area for traffic control and site safety. Work may consist of repairing and placing concrete to include (ADA ramps, sidewalks, curb and gutter, etc.) but not limited to, setting forms, mixing concrete, wheeling and pouring concrete, screeding concrete to a level plane and troweling, grooving and edging the surface, and installing truncated domes.
May operate construction and maintenance equipment and attachments which may include dump truck and loader, water truck, skid steer, trailers or similar equipment used in preparation for concrete placement and general road maintenance.
May do hauling, loading, cutting, leveling and packing of fill dirt in preparation for concrete and asphaltic materials.
May read blueprints and plans.
May assist in establishing and setting grades for concrete form installation.
May assist others in road maintenance work as assigned.
May do routine service work on assigned piece of equipment, make minor adjustments and assist in repair.
May keep simple time, materials and equipment maintenance records.
Follow safety rules and regulations.
May supervise and instruct a labor crew in simple concrete work.

- Equipment service requirements.
- Work and communicate effectively with people of various education and socioeconomic backgrounds by respecting beliefs, interpersonal styles and behaviors of both clients and co-workers.
- Operate contemporary office equipment inclusive of computer, keyboard, and all applicable electronic equipment.
- Operate one or more pieces of construction equipment.
- Carry out oral and written job assignments.
- Read and understand operator and service manuals.
- Set grades, forms, lay, finish and repair concrete
- Inspect, service and make minor adjustments on equipment.
- Work cooperatively with other operators and maintenance personnel.
- Service equipment and keeping service records.
- Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade.
- Ability to obtain a “Class “A” driver’s license with no restrictions and a tanker endorsement two (2) weeks prior to the expiration of the one- year probationary period. Obtaining the Class A license is a condition of employment.
