EXTRA HELP POSITIONS ONLY
Under general supervision, to coordinate and perform the transport of clientele to various locations within and outside of Siskiyou County and/or the State of California. Loading, unloading, and delivery of materials, including supplies, equipment; and to do related work as required.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This is working level classification. Incumbents have responsibility for performing delivery and transport functions to locations within and outside of Siskiyou County in a variety of weather conditions. Incumbents will be utilized on an on-call basis 24 hours per day - 365 days per year depending on availability established between incumbent and supervisor. Incumbents are expected to respond to requests for transports in accordance with required function/transport.
REPORTS TO
Assigned supervisor or manager depending upon the department or program area where assigned.
CLASSIFICATIONS SUPERVISED
This is not a supervisory class.
Essential Functions
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the knowledge and skills to successfully perform the listed duties is qualifying. A typical way, but not required, to obtain the required knowledge and skills would be:
Sit and drive for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; stoop, kneel and crouch to pick up or move objects. Operate a vehicle for transporting of clientele in compliance with State and Federal law(s). Normal manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; physical ability to lift, push, carry, and move objects weighing up to 25 pounds; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; and verbal communication.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in various models of vehicles, outside in various types of weather, and in an office environment. A significant portion of the duties include contact with other the public and other staff.

Essential Functions
- Transport clientele to and from a variety of locations within and outside of Siskiyou County and/or the State of California. Transports include transporting of clients to and from doctor's appointments, programs, and scheduled outings.
- Duties include driving to remote areas to transport clients to/from specific medical office locations, loading and unloading County vehicle(s) ensuring all items and supplies are accounted for and properly secured, pick up, sort and deliver materials/supplies to various sites throughout Siskiyou County.
- Operates a County vehicle safely and in compliance with State and Federal laws.
- Handle special requests related to the transport(s) and transfer of clientele, materials, and furniture, as directed by supervisors or management, update and maintain records related to delivery and transport assignments.
- Maintain assigned vehicle in a clean and safe operating condition, and perform basic cleaning and sanitizing of vehicle as necessary.
- Routine vehicle cleaning and sanitizing requirements..
- Good public relations techniques.
- Safe driving practices.
- Location of various cities and towns throughout Siskiyou County.
- Familiarity of specific roads and highways.
- Prioritize work load to meet established time lines and special requests.
- Follow oral and written directions.
- Read and follow specific maps to various locations.
- Read and write at the level required for successful job performance.
- Perform routine washing and sanitizing of vehicles.
- Use and safely operate a vehicle in accordance with State and Federal laws.
- Work on own initiative without close supervision.
- Deal tactfully and courteously with the public and other staff.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
- Properly install child safety seats. *Training will be provided by department.

- Previous experience performing vehicle operation duties.
- Possession of a valid and appropriate driver's license issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles.
- Applicants must have a clean driving record for the preceding three years.
