Mental Health Case Management Assistant

Interviews will be held the week of May 4th, 2026. Job offers will be made the week of May 11th, 2026.

This position is eligible for appointment at $48,713.60 annually. County employees are subject to the County Promotion Rule for Step Placement in Accordance with Compensation Ordinance 1.3.5.

Future Salary Increases

  • June 2026 – 5.73% increase to base pay (3.5% Across-the-Board 2.23% Market Adjustment)
  • June 2027 – 5.23% increase to base pay (3.0% Across-the- Board 2.23% Market Adjustment)

Mental Health Case Management Assistants assist mental health staff in performing case management services and act as a liaison between the Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) and clients or patients.

Mental Health Case Management Assistants perform non-technical assistance and support duties, which enable or enhance a client's ability to utilize mental or public health services provided by the Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA).

Hiring Timeline and Dates

The timeline for this recruitment is outlined below.

  • Job offers will be made shortly after the interviews.
  • Pre-employment Medical Screening: Approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results.
  • Anticipated Start Date: Start date will be based upon successful completion of medical screening or other mutually agreed upon date.

Minimum Qualifications

One (1) year of full-time experience serving as an aide or assistant providing mental health or social services for an agency or organization.

Note: The possession of a bachelor's degree, associate's degree, or the completion of college coursework from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency in behavioral science is desirable.

Conditions of Employment

As part of the County of San Diego’s pre-employment process, prospective candidates will undergo a background check (including fingerprinting) and a pre-employment medical screening prior to beginning County employment. Additional types of background investigations may be conducted based on the job-related activities of the position. Current County employees may be excluded from this process.

Evaluation

The names of qualified applicants will be placed on a six (6) month employment list based upon scores received during the evaluation of information contained in their employment application and supplemental questionnaire.
