Job Summary:
We are seeking an Engineering Specialist to join our team at the Rockland County Highway Department, Engineering Division. The successful candidate will work with various divisions within the department, including Engineering, Drainage, Maintenance, and Construction.
The ideal candidate will oversee field survey inspections, drafting, and engineering computation projects, ensuring compliance with CAD standards. They will also provide technical support for various software applications and supervise technical engineering staff.
In this role, you will coordinate field and survey work requests, inspect construction and maintenance projects, and gather information for inclusion in the Geographic Information System (GIS). Additionally, you will review proposals for survey, construction, and mapping issues, and complete designs for small-medium size projects.
The work is performed under the general supervision of a Highway administrator, and supervision is provided to technical staff.
Requirements:
- An Associate's degree or 2 years of college study in Civil Engineering, Surveying, Forestry, Landscaping, Architectural Technology, or comparable curriculum
- 5 years of technical experience in civil engineering
- A Bachelor's degree may be substituted for 4 years of experience
