What are the responsibilities and job description for the Scorekeeper - Athletics position at County of Roanoke Virginia?
Performs routine recreational service work keeping official scorebook(s) and/or operates scoreboard for various sports including baseball, softball, lacrosse, football, soccer and basketball. Performs related work as required.
Shift Hours and/or Days Worked: Monday-Thursday, Saturday and Sunday- evenings and weekends
Hours Required for this position: 12-18
Required: Completion of 8th grade secondary school
Experience
Preferred: Previous experience in sports scorekeeping
Certifications/Licenses
Required: None
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of sport rules and timing practices of baseball, softball, lacrosse, soccer, football and basketball.
Ability to operate electronic scoreboard with limited training and oversight.
Ability to effectively communicate with game officials, coaches, players and other staff.
Additional Requirements
Subject to a complete criminal history and Child Protective Services background search with acceptable results. Must be able to perform the job as described in the Physical and Environmental Demands section of this job description. Must be a minimum of 16 years old and able to work various weekday evenings from 6:00-10:00pm, Saturdays 8:00am-10:00pm, and Sundays 1:00-10:00pm with schedule negotiated with Athletics Staff.
