OC COMMUNITY RESOURCES (OCCR):
OC Community Resources (OCCR) consists of six Programs: Administrative Services, OC Animal Care, OC Community Services, OC Housing & Community Development, OC Parks, and OC Public Libraries. Together, these programs advance OC Community Resources commitment to connecting people with resources.

Employee Services provides comprehensive internal support to OCCR by delivering high-quality services designed to cultivate a positive and efficient workplace. The team is responsible for facilitating internal communications, optimizing operational processes, and supporting administrative functions across the department. Additionally, Employee Services coordinates employee recognition events and employee engagement initiatives.

TRAINING AND PROFESSIONAL SUPERVISION:
The intern will receive direct supervision and guidance from Employee Services staff, along with structured training on OCCR administrative processes, internal communication tools, department procedures, and standard office practices. The internship will provide a structured orientation to departmental operations, administrative procedures, and workplace expectations, as well as guidance on the use of department-specific systems, software, and office tools. Interns will also have opportunities to participate in team meetings, project planning, and staff support activities, while observing staff and becoming familiar with routine administrative functions. Regular supervision and check-ins will be provided to offer direction, clarify expectations, and support professional development through ongoing feedback.

INTERN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties may include assisting Employee Services with one or more of the following assignments or projects:
  • Preparing and organizing department materials, including electronic files, spreadsheets, tracking logs, reports, and PowerPoint presentations to support daily operations and Program needs.
  • Supporting data entry and information management, such as updating internal logs, processing forms, and maintaining accurate documentation for Employee Services requests.
  • Assisting with employee engagement and recognition initiatives, including event prep, logistics, materials development, and day-of support for celebrations, meetings, and department-wide activities.
  • Assisting with the creation, editing, and organization of Employee Services communications, including quarterly newsletters and contributions to the OCCR Annual Report.
  • Supporting the development of visual communications by creating simple graphic designs, drafting visual layouts, and assisting with flyers, digital assets, and other materials used for newsletters, employee engagement, and department communications.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must be current college students enrolled in an accredited college/university or be a recent graduate (6 months) with an interest in pursuing a career in the public sector and/or in gaining experience within an office/administrative environment.

SKILLS TRAINING OR QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • High level of organization, reliability, and attention to detail.
  • Eager to learn and gain professional experience.
  • Ability to complete assignments in a timely manner.
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience using the internet and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook, and Teams).

TIME COMMITMENT:
The internship is in-person only. We can meet college internship timeline requirements, or a minimum of 15 – 20 hours per week for a minimum of 3 months. Hours may be scheduled Monday through Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Summer placement of a shorter duration may be available. Applicants able to schedule the maximum hours/duration listed for this internship typically gain a more in-depth experience.
