Nevada County is seeking a Wastewater Electrical/Mechanical Worker II. This is a position where individuals, with general supervision, perform electrical and/or mechanical work on wastewater collection system and treatment facility equipment and systems. More importantly, they need to have knowledge of the principles of electrical circuitry and wastewater health hazards. Other vital duties include:
  • Install electrical circuits, relays, switching, piping, wiring, instrumentation, controls and pumps
  • Troubleshoot, maintains, and repairs diesel, propane and gasoline engines; electrical motors, circuits, alarms, pumps, instrumentation, and controls
  • Read and interpret manuals, blueprints, and schematics
  • Maintain records, manuals, and wiring diagrams of County sanitation district electronic and mechanical equipment
A Wastewater Electrical/Mechanical Worker II is an integral part of the wastewater collection system whose mission is to keep the community functioning by performing various repair work on electrical and mechanical water, sewer, and wastewater treatment systems! This position is crafted for individuals who have graduated from high school, supplemented by a formal apprenticeship as an electrical/mechanical worker. Furthermore, three years of experience as an electrical/mechanical worker in the maintenance and repair of generators and general plant maintenance is required. If you have knowledge of codes and laws governing electrical, and mechanical repairs, that's a plus!

Equivalent to graduation from high school, supplemented by a formal apprenticeship or equivalent as an electrical/mechanical worker; and three years experience as a journey level electrical/mechanical worker in the maintenance and repair of generators, motors, pumps, controls, instrumentation, computerized control and general plant maintenance.


Possession of a valid driver's license within 30 days of hire. A valid Class C driver's license must be maintained throughout employment in this class to perform the essential functions of the position.
