General Summary
Under the general direction the Chief Probate Judge and Presiding Judge of the 38th Circuit - Family Division, serves as the hearing referee for cases involving juvenile delinquency or neglect and abuse. Also conducts hearings for uncontested probate matters. Ensures proceedings are conducted in accordance with applicable law and procedures, due process rights for all parties are preserved and that counsel is appointed.
Employment Qualifications
Education: Graduation from an accredited law school.
Experience: Three years experience practicing law with an emphasis on litigation and juvenile law, providing a thorough understanding of the rules of evidence and the applicable statutes, case law and trial procedure.
Other Requirements:
Licensed to practice law in the State of Michigan and a member in good standing of the Michigan Bar Association. Passage of a pre-employment drug screen and background check including but not limited to state/national criminal history check, DHHS central registry check and review of professional references. Possession of a valid driver’s license. Participate in annual training and continuing legal education as required by law, the court, and the County of Monroe.
