Job Summary
Monmouth County Park System is seeking enthusiastic, dependable, and safety-minded Outdoor Adventure Instructors to support our Adventures Hiking Programs throughout the region. Ideal candidates are passionate about the outdoors and enjoy teaching, guiding, and inspiring youth and adults through hands-on experiences on land and water.
Responsibilities
Hiking Guide Duties
- Lead local hikes, full-day adventures, and overnight backpacking trips
- Ensure participant safety, preparedness, and enjoyment
- Share knowledge of regional history, flora, and fauna
- Foster inclusive, supportive group experiences on the trail
Position Details
- Schedule: Flexible, 10–30 hours/week (may include evenings/weekends)
- Location: Based out of Thompson Park, Lincroft (travel to NJ/NY/PA trips)
- Pay: Starting at $16.10/hour, higher based on experience
Qualifications
- 21 years or older with a valid NJ driver’s license
- Experience hiking and/or backpacking
- Ability to carry a backpack up to 30 lbs
- Comfortable working independently and with small groups
- Wilderness First Aid or WFR certification a plus
