Martin County is currently accepting applications for a Branch and Outreach Librarian.
The Branch and Outreach Librarian serves as the outreach librarian for the library, coordinating branch monthly material rotations and resolving all branch issues. Assists in the development and management of outreach to the communities in Martin County. Develops, plans and promotes programs, displays and collections at all libraries. Responsible for leading circulation staff who assist with branch rotation. Assists in running reports using the ILS. Serve as a branch substitute as necessary. Works at circulation desk as needed, including Saturdays. This is a full-time position, working 35 hours per week.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinates monthly materials shipments to branches and assists with branch materials collections and displays.
- Assists in the development and management of outreach to the public at all locations, including but not limited to community groups, schools and senior living facilities.
- Plans and assists with programming and library events, including branches and headquarters.
- Works at the circulation desk and serves as a branch substitute as needed.
- Point of contact for resolution to branch library issues.
- Acts as a team leader for the circulation staff in assisting in giving direction of their work, including branch rotation.
- Assist in the running of the library’s automated system, including reports, lists and mailings.
- Participates in continuing education and training sessions on position applicable law and regulation changes, computer skills and other position related matters.
- Performs other work-related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Two years of formal training in technical school or Associate’s Degree.
- One year or less of experience in related field along with the skills, knowledge and abilities required; or equivalent combined education and experience.
LICENSURE
- Valid Driver’s License
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of general library operations to include circulation systems.
- Considerable knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
- Ability to operate computers, tablets and mobile devices and other general office equipment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other library related applications a must. Ability to learn new software programs and web-based systems as necessary.
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing and have good public relations skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
The position has good working conditions in general, but is a diversified job requiring sustained mental effort related to organizational issues, planning and technical areas.
The individual may encounter moderate emotional strain or tension. There is sustained exposure to sitting and standing. There is continuous exposure to computer keyboards and video screens and moderate exposure to lifting up to 40 pounds.
