What are the responsibilities and job description for the Juvenile Success Coordinator position at County of Kent?

Job Responsibilities

The Kent County 17th Circuit Court is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Juvenile Success Coordinator to support youth in our diversion and community probation programs. This role is assigned to the Juvenile Treatment and Support Court (JTASC) and will work within a multidisciplinary team. An Ideal candidate is someone who believes in second chances, enjoys mentoring at-risk youth, and thrives on building positive connections with families, schools, and community partners.

As a Juvenile Success Coordinator, you’ll provide hands-on support and supervision for youth referred or ordered to diversion or community probation. You’ll monitor their progress at home, school, and work; encourage compliance with court orders and case plans; and help them access resources that promote accountability and personal growth. Every day brings new opportunities to make a meaningful impact on young lives—whether you’re meeting with a family, coordinating with service providers, or conducting a home visit.

What You’ll Do
  • Guide juveniles and families through the expectations of diversion and community probation programs.
  • Develop and implement individualized case plans that outline goals, supports, and accountability measures.
  • Monitor school attendance, employment, curfew, community service, and participation in treatment or other required programs.
  • Conduct home, school, and community visits to assess progress and provide ongoing support.
  • Administer drug and alcohol testing when required and report results appropriately.
  • Recommend and apply incentives or sanctions in collaboration with court staff.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed records of all contacts and progress updates.
  • Provide transportation support and occasionally assist with detaining youth when court-ordered.
Must be available to work second shift, weekends, and holidays.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate’s degree in Sociology, Psychology, Criminal Justice, or related field, combined with a minimum of six months of experience in intervention services for at-risk juveniles. A valid, unrestricted Michigan driver's license and access to reliable transportation in the performance of job duties are required.

Must have knowledge of case work principles using criminal justice and/or social work and counseling practices and techniques. Having the ability to earn the respect of juvenile offenders and their families, as well as to interact positively with clients from a wide range of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, is essential.

** Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Psychology, Criminal Justice, or related field desired.
