Job Responsibilities
Under general supervision, the individual will be part of a team responsible for the accurate, timely processing and auditing of the County's bi-weekly payroll in accordance with IRS and other federal, state or local regulatory guidelines. In addition, this individual will prepare and transmit related bank files; perform employee reimbursement review in accordance with County policies and bargaining agreements; assist with interim and annual tax compliance reporting; process employee payroll change requests; provide ad hoc reporting as needed; maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential. The successful candidate may assist with other departmental general accounting activities such as accounts payable or accounts receivable as needed and special projects as they arise.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED combined with one or more years of post-secondary training in bookkeeping, general accounting or related field and a minimum of one year general accounting or bookkeeping experience.
Understanding of internal controls; strong PC skills; proficient in Excel; strong communication skills; and strong customer service skills.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Associates degree or certification in accounting or bookkeeping is a plus.
