What are the responsibilities and job description for the Housing and Community Development Specialist I - SR-16 position at County of Hawai`i?
There is one (1) full-time vacancy with the Office of Housing and Community Development - Existing Housing Division in Hilo.
(Appointment may be made at any rate within the salary range advertised above at which appropriate qualified applicants can be recruited. Starting salary will be based on the qualifications of the person selected.)
This Housing and Community Development Specialist I, SR-16 position is a career ladder position. The next level in the series is Housing and Community Development Specialist II, SR-18, $4,590 - $6,535/month. Persons hired into career ladder positions must meet minimum qualifications for the next level in the career ladder series, perform work at the higher level, and meet performance requirements to move to the next level in the career ladder series.
This position is exempt from civil service.
- Receives orientation in the basic functions and objectives of the housing, community development, or workforce development program and of the particular specialty area assigned.
- Learns the principles, techniques, laws, methodology and processes pertinent to the work.
- Becomes familiar with the review, evaluation, and processing of applications for various federal assistance programs.
- Becomes familiar with the location and use of various reference and resource materials, files and related records; verifies or extracts and compiles pertinent information from various reports, publications and other materials found in appropriate federal, state, city and private sources.
- Assists in the tabulation of data involving the use of statistical concepts and formulas common to real estate and financing practices.
- Prepares simple narrative reports. May assist in analyzing findings of researched data.
A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to:
- graduation from an accredited college or university with a baccalaureate degree (scan and attach a copy of your official college transcript to your application), and
- possession of a valid State of Hawai‘i driver's license (Class 3) or any other comparable driver’s license at time of filing. (You will be required to submit your valid driver's license at time of hire.)
