What are the responsibilities and job description for the CONSTABLE-FT position at County of Greenville?
Delivers and serves civil papers issued by the Magistrate Court, which may include subpoenas, summons, writs, claim deliveries, notices to quit and other documents; locates addresses of individuals to be served; transports and serves documents in a timely, safe and professional manner; and completes, maintains, and files all related documentation. Conducts court ordered evictions of tenants; ensures proper and timely service of court orders; maintains order between property owners and persons being evicted; and ensures all personal property is removed from premises according to local and state laws. Maintains a security presence in the courtroom; ensures safety of court personnel; confiscates unauthorized items brought to court; identifies and prevents disturbances during court proceedings; and identifies and prevents potential violence or use of weapons. Performs related duties in support of court operations; transports monies collected by the court to the bank; assists with court administrative and office duties; conducts public sales; and performs other duties as assigned; performs other related duties as required. Associate degree in criminal justice or related field required; supplemented by two years of experience in law enforcement, corrections, or related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid South Carolina Driver's License.
