What are the responsibilities and job description for the NCIC/DATA ENTRY SPECIALIST position at County of Greenville - SHERIFF?
Collects, collates, and analyzes data for the National Crime Information Center database entries. Queries data from various local, state and federal files and databases. Handle a multitude of processes required by state and federal policies with operating the National Crime Information Center database. Manages the following types of transactions for NCIC: incoming messages; outgoing messages; high priority hits; low priority hits; queries; research and entry of wanted persons, missing persons, stolen vehicles, stolen parts, felony vehicles, stolen tags, gang members and protection orders; modification of entries; adding supplemental information to entries; clears of recovered property and found persons; cancel of records; locate of records entered by other agencies; validation of all entries; and administrative messaging. Analyzing data from multiple sources to make a determination on officer safety flags. Verifying accuracy on all previously entered data across various systems. Assists deputies/investigators in case resolution by researching information from NCIC transactions. Forwards information to the appropriate personnel/agencies for necessary action. Performs other related duties as required. High school diploma or GED required; supplemented by two years of experience in customer service, data entry, or related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must obtain and maintain NCIC Certification with six (6) moths of hire. Salary is based on education and experience. Must have a valid South Carolina Driver's License.
