What are the responsibilities and job description for the CAPITAL PROJECTS COORDINATOR position at County of Greenville - ENGINEERING?
Coordinates construction of approved capital improvement projects, including drainage improvements, road improvements, and large culvert and bridge projects; communicates directly with contractors to coordinate construction scheduling and monitor contractor work progress and performance. Conducts regular site visits. Performs inspections for quality control and prepares documentation with photos. Communicates directly with utility providers and location services to request locates and resolve utility conflicts before and/or during construction. Oversees and reviews construction projects; monitors construction activities for work hazards, pedestrian safety, and vehicle safety, ensuring adherence to established safety procedures and requirements. Ensures compliance with all applicable codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, procedures, and specifications. Maintains daily log of construction activities on County projects. Prepares monthly status report; reviews and processes contractor progress payments; organizes and maintains folders on division server for inspection reports, project documentation, and digital photos. Support in-house design projects; assists with site topographic surveys; collects GIS information. Prepares preliminary and final construction cost estimates. Prepares and executes easement and temporary construction access agreements. Assists with bid package preparation; assists with pre-bid meetings, neighborhood meetings, and pre-construction meetings; assists with construction staking, stockpile surveys, and as-built surveys. Communicates and coordinates with various County staff; assists with maintenance projects, curb replacement, catch basin replacement, and miscellaneous infrastructure repair projects; obtains direct quotes from vendors for smaller job not requiring a formal bidding process; communicates and meets with citizens on related matters; performs other related duties as required. Associate degree in construction management or related field required; supplemented by five years of experience in surveying, plan review, road construction and maintenance, drainage installation, and site grading; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid South Carolina Driver's License.
