POSITION: Custodial Worker I

DEPARTMENT: Parks &Recreation

LOCATION: Fairgrounds/Parks/Pools/Trails/Transportation

SALARY: $11.92/hr SEIU Pay Grade 2

HOURS: 40 Hours Per Week

(Starting and Ending to be set by Management)

BENEFITS: Health, Vision & Dental – First of month following date of hire

OVERALL OBJECTIVE OF JOB

Performs routine building cleaning. Check for and arrange your schedule to accommodate for scheduled meetings in your building. Arrange coverage for cleaning other building and locking all buildings when necessary. Does related work as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF JOB

1. Sweeps, scrubs, mops, waxes and buffs floors.

2. Washes windows, blinds, wall fixtures and building areas.

3. Cuts grass and weeds in assigned areas.

4. Hauls material, animal waste, and varies department objects.

5. Sets up displays, events, and recreational activities.

6. Cleans, sanitizes and deodorizes restrooms daily.

7. Empties trash and waste baskets daily.

8. Replaces light bulbs.

9. Vacuums carpets and upholstered chairs daily.

10. Turns off lights and unlocks and relocks building and/or offices and entrances daily.

11. Paints and scrubs walls when needed.

12. Shampoos and cleans carpets on a regular basis; removes spots and spillage as necessary.

13. Delivers supplies within department and to other County departments.

14. Empties trash into waste receptacle outside for pickup daily.

OTHER DUTIES OF THE JOB:

1. Attends meetings and/or trainings as assigned

2. Assists other staff

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Receives occasional instruction and some supervision in regard to daily work duties from supervisor.

SUPERVISON GIVEN: None.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

1. Works indoors and outdoors in adequate work space, lighting, ventilation and temperatures.

2. Works with above average exposure to stress and noise and subject to frequent disruptions.

3. Normal indoor exposure to dust/dirt.

4. Works outdoors in all weather conditions.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL CONDITIONS:

1. Must possess ability to follow instructions.

2. Must possess the dexterity to perform the necessary requirements of the job.

3. Must have the ability to lift and carry objects.

4. Must be able to pay close attention to details.

5. Must be able to operate small equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A. EDUCATION/TRAINING

High School diploma or equivalent

B. WORK EXPERIENCE

Some experience or training in building Maintenance and cleaning.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

1. Must be able to speak and understand the English language in order to carry out essential functions of the job.

2. Must possess some knowledge of cleaning methods.

3. Must possess the ability to use supplies and equipment economically and efficiently.

4. Must be in good physical condition.

5. Must possess a valid PA driver’s license
