What You'll Do:
Key Responsibilities
As a Records Clerk, you will:
- Process new inmate intakes by creating and maintaining files, updating electronic records, and managing key documentation for each case.
- Coordinate and arrange transportation for inmates attending court hearings, ensuring accurate scheduling and secure transit.
- Serve as a key contact for inmates, addressing questions and concerns via email, and maintaining communication with family members, attorneys, and court personnel.
- Prepare court lists, manage time computations, and send state sentencing credits to the Department of Corrections.
- Assist with weekend confinement schedules and adapt court-mandated obligations for inmates transitioning to workforce programs.
- Maintain certification to operate Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN) and National Crime Information Center (NCIC) systems.
- Testify in court as required and work with law enforcement on sex offender identification and registration.
What We're Looking For:
- Ability to work near the intake area of the jail, with frequent inmate traffic, noise, and potential exposure to strong language or behavioral disturbances.
- Thrives in a high-pressure setting and handling unexpected situations with professionalism.
- Able to work overtime as operational needs require.
