Description
This position works with Engineers, Planners, and other support staff. The GIS Manager is expected to have knowledge of GIS programs, spatial and cartographic understanding, and GIS software skills.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Develop a working knowledge of construction standards and utility information systems.
- Prepare documents and reports with Microsoft and other industry-specific programs.
- Assist with implementing and managing field data collection tools and tasks.
- Support the maintenance and operation of the client’s mapping and GIS applications by maintaining, reporting, and posting work, or by gathering data.
- Perform data input and editing of spatial and tabular data.
- Perform field data collection as needed using mobile GIS/GPS equipment.
- Understand the use of document management systems, filing, and document scanning.
- Execute and plan daily goals while meeting quality, time, and budget constraints.
- Review and/or correct data integrity errors within GIS databases.
- Performs geographic and non-geographic data manipulation, management, analysis, cartography, and GIS processes using various software environments.
- Gather, analyze, and integrate spatial data and determine how best the information can be displayed using GIS.
- Enter new map data using GIS software using cartography principles, including coordinate systems, longitude, latitude, elevation, topography, and map scales.
- Prepare drawings using AutoCAD or other electronic drawing packages as required.
- Assist in creating web-based mapping tools (ESRI ArcGIS Online) web apps, web maps, and dashboards to assist the client and internal use.
- Conduct simple spatial analyses and prepare maps using ArcGIS or other applicable GIS software.
Requirements
- ESRI Suites Certification
- Knowledge of SQL Server, ArcGIS Server, MS Azure Portal, MS Power Apps, Python, ESRI Arcade, and ModelBuilder, with the ability to support and improve ArcGIS functionality preferred.
- Must have experience with GIS software implementations and system integrations.
- Working knowledge of CAD software
- Bachelor's or Associates degree in Geography, Planning, Engineering, Natural Science, or a closely related field, or a combination of education and relevant experience
- 2-5 Year(s) Experience in GIS and/or CAD programs and working in the GIS utility industry.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals, operational procedures, etc.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information to customers, clients, and other employees in the organization.
