GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
This position handles front office operations and provides administrative assistance for all environmental health programs. This position is a key supportive role for the Public Health Environmental protection programs and serves as the contact point of communication for customers and consumers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Answers phone calls, assists with basic environmental health program requests, schedules all Environmental Health Specialist inspections, and redirects calls to the appropriate departments as needed.
- Creates, maintains, updates, scans, and organizes computer files containing correspondence, records, etc.
- Attends job-specific training as required.
- Prepares and mails invoices annually for all Retail Food Establishments
- Data entry into Health Space for all new Retail Food Establishments, Retail Food License Renewals
- Prepares renewal letters and maintains On-site Wastewater Treatment Systems contractors’ licenses in Excel
- Reviews and processes all On-site Wastewater Treatment System permits in Excel
- Collects payments for On-site Wastewater Treatment System permits and licenses
- Reviews and maintains all On-site Wastewater Treatment System files and verifies proper documentation is received and ready for Inspector review.
- Reviews all Event Applications and Food Vendor Applications for accuracy
- Back-up coverage of the front desk and Public Health as needed.
- Various additional duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - written, verbal, and listening.
- General office administrative and clerical skills.
- Ability to perform routine computer functions and learn new applications as necessary.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

- Ability to multitask.
- Basic knowledge of septic systems is preferred.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CERTIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Minimum 2 years of Customer Service Experience
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Valid Colorado Driver’s License
- Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
- Bilingual a plus
