Job Announcement:

Tree Trimmer Trainee

2024 Salary $45,576 (Grade 9, Step 1)

This is a one-year entry level traineeship in which

incumbents attend driving school and receive on-the-

job training in connection with the pruning,

trimming, spraying, transplanting and felling of

trees. This class differs from that of Tree Climber

because Tree Trimmers normally work on the ground

instead of from a bucket or in the trees. The work is

performed under direct supervision. Supervision of

the work of others is not a normal function of the

Class. Upon successful completion of the

traineeship, the incumbent will be promoted to the

title of Tree Trimmer.

Minimum Qualifications:

Six (6) months of experience trimming trees.

Special Requirements:

• Candidates must possess a valid New York State

• A valid New York State Class B Commercial

6 months of appointment in order to maintain

the position.

The work involves performing semi-skilled tasks in

connection with the pruning, trimming, spraying,

transplanting and felling of trees. This class differs

from that of Tree Climber because Tree Trimmers

normally work on the ground instead of from a

bucket or in the trees. The work is performed under

direct supervision. Supervision of the work of others

is not a normal function of the Class.
