What are the responsibilities and job description for the Division of Transportation Planning Intern position at County of DuPage?
We are pleased to offer the opportunity to work as a Transportation Planning Intern within the DuPage County Division of Transportation. The Transportation Planning Intern will assist with highway and multi-modal transportation planning, data analysis, geographic information systems and asset management. This position offers the Intern a chance to use tools of the profession and to connect with planners, engineers and personnel in public and private industry.

Medium Work: Exerting up to 30 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Use of arm and /or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than for light work.
Work Environment:
The work will occur in an office and field environment. While performing the duties and responsibilities the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, vibrations, loud noise, noxious odors, dusts, poor ventilation, unsanitary conditions, chemicals, oils, electricity, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, work space restrictions, intense noises, travel, and other related conditions and situations.

This position is eligible for Paid Leave hours at a proportional rate based on the number of hours regularly scheduled to work.
Projects will include:- Collecting and reviewing stormwater and utility information in the field and integrating that information into geodatabases
- Corridor and system safety and performance analysis
- Geodatabase development and management
- Support for Long Range Transportation Plan and Americans with Disability Transition Plan development
- Research related to transit, state and federal grants, demographics, census data and other large digital data sources
