Animal Care Seasonal Worker

We are pleased to offer the opportunity to work as a Seasonal Animal Care Worker within the DuPage County Animal Services Department. This position will support a variety of animal care and wellness activities at the shelter.  

This position is eligible for Paid Leave hours at a proportional rate based on the number of hours regularly scheduled to work.  For detailed information on paid time off, visit Employee Policy Manual, Section 5

• Assist animal caretaking and veterinary staff
• Clean cages, feed and exercise all animals housed in the shelter
• Observe, record and discuss animal health and behavior
• Assist with animal training and enrichment programs
• Cleans dishes and folds laundry
• On a limited basis; support the veterinarian and veterinary technician in surgery preparation, health checks, vaccinations, and microchipping
• Sort and store donations
• Prepare adoption packets and data entry

 Must be able to commit to a 37.5 hour work week for a minimum of 11 weeks to include weekends and holidays as scheduled.No minimum academic requirements.

 Heavy Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.  Use of arm and /or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than for medium work.
