What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Income Maintenance Caseworker - Medicaid Trainer position at County of Dare?
Performs advanced skilled human support work determining eligibility for various public assistance programs; providing support for lower-level department staff, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Income Maintenance Supervisor. Continuous oversight is exercised over Income Maintenance Caseworker.
- Interviews applicants for various assistance programs; verifies eligibility factors.
- Provides information to applicants, the public and others regarding various assistance programs.
- Coordinates with other agencies and organizations such as hospitals, health departments, nursing homes, etc. to secure services for clients.
- Provides policy and technical support and training of the eligibility and enrollment processes to lower-level caseworkers and processing assistants.
- Assists agency supervisors in identifying error trends relating to policy; prepares reports and statistical information relating to staff productivity and accuracy.
- Resolves complex issues in the eligibility and enrollment processes in NC Fast.
- Mentor staff that have been released from the training program.
- Reviews applications and re-certifications for accuracy and timeliness.
- Completes eligibility and enrollment process in NC Fast for Medicaid and Food and Nutrition Services.
- Performs other assigned duties.
- Thorough knowledge of the principles, methods, techniques, and practices of public assistance.
- Thorough knowledge of forms, documents, and procedures in determining eligibility.
- Ability to analyze facts and to exercise sound judgment in arriving at conclusions.
- Ability to prepare clear and concise reports.
- Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, orally and in writing.
- Ability to solve problems within scope of responsibility.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, associates, and the general public.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Moderate experience in related field or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
