What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Public Utility Director position at County of Dare?
JOB Performs difficult professional work organizing and directing the maintenance, repair and construction of water utility plants and related facilities, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Public Utility Director. Departmental supervision is exercised over all personnel within the department. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
- Assists with the planning, organizing, and directing of the work of subordinate supervisors and employees in water treatment plant operations, process control, laboratory analysis, distribution system operation and maintenance, and preventive maintenance and repair.
- Advises management and participates in planning for current and future capacity needs and plant systems modifications for increased efficiency or regulatory compliance.
- Assists with researching, procuring, and managing vendors for engineering, construction and other contracts in facilities expansion, renovation, construction, design and related activities.
- Supervises contracted construction and maintenance projects; ensures proper inspection and adherence to plans and standards prior to County acceptance.
- Research and drafts policies and procedures; prepares budget requests documentation as part of annual budget preparation process; reviews and submits budget requests of subordinate supervisors; controls allocated resources once approved.
- Assists staff with troubleshooting unusual operational problems.
- Establishes, maintains, and analyzes a variety of reports as required for regulatory compliance and effective decision making.
- Acts as Utility Director when required.
- Performs other assigned duties.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- Five to seven (5-7) years of experience in a related field or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
- A Well and A Distribution operator’s license.
- Cross-Connection certification within two years of hire.
- Ability to obtain additional certifications as needed or apparent.
- Valid driver's license.
Salary : $97,826 - $127,174
